Franceʼs House - Riolo

RFrance's Houseiolo is a quiet and quaint mediaeval village with beautiful views overlooking the valley of Bagni di Lucca. Other villages such as: Granaiola, Lugliano and Colle can be seen in the distance which are lovely additions to the stunning panorama of the mountains blanketed with copious varieties of trees.

Tucked away within the village of Riolo, Franceʼs House is a rustic stone house, indicative of the area, and is suitable for families or any anyone who would like an active or tranquil holiday. The narrow streets are an exciting adventure for children to explore and a mule track leading up from the village will take you to Monti di Villa. Numerous walks are accessible around the area- a sheer delight if you are a keen walker.

Franceʼs House caters for a maximum of 6 guests and be found up the steps from the main piazza in Riolo. An attractive gateway opens onto a tiny courtyard and the house is entered via a stone staircase. It has: two bedrooms, a shower room and an open plan kitchen and dining room. The house is suitable for holidays throughout the year, as it has heating for the colder months.

Garden

A lot of houses in mountain villages do not always have gardens attached, however, this has garden with a terrace. A garden table and chairs are provided so you may enjoy a home cooked Tuscan meal or simply have a lovely glass of wine and a good book.

Points to note:

Children are most welcome, however, care must be taken with the little ones as the external stairs are made of stone and the internal ones are steep. A cot and high chair can be provided, if required.

Linen and towels, electricity and water are included in the rental costs, however, there is an additional cost for heating.

During the cooler months, when heating is required, an extra cost will be made by the owner for wood pellets to stoke the wood burning stove. This equates to approximately €5.00 for a 15 kg bag and must be paid to the owner direct. The amount of fuel used cannot be calculated, as peopleʼs heating requirements are different.

Some elderly residents do live in the area and Franceʼs House is suitable for elderly guests provided that they are mobile and are able to walk with ease.

As with most mediaeval, mountain villages it is not possible to park outside the property and it is reached by walking up shallow but gradual steps for approximately 20 metres. Free car parking is available in the village car park.
