Orchard Heights Sleeps 6

Only 10 minutes from the town of Bagni di Lucca, and beautifully positioned within its delightful hills, lies Orchard Heights. A newly constructed house that has its own private swimming pool, is surrounded by an abundance of fruit trees, cocooned by a chestnut wood and is completely secluded sitting in its own grounds of 3.5 acres.

Deer regularly visit the grounds, which is a sheer delight whilst having your morning coffee on the balcony. Wild boar also make a visit, but only late at night and when the surroundings are still and quiet. During the spring we have our own resident pheasants, Philbert and Philomina. They visit us every year to have their babies and then disappear until the following year.

Eagles can be seen soaring high up in the sky, catching the thermals, and during the month of June fireflies can be seen twinkling in the dark like little stars gently flashing. It truly is a wondrous and enchanting location, to experience nature in your very own wildlife park.

A private swimming pool is tucked behind the house giving absolute privacy from the village of Riolo, which sits proudly over the Lima valley. The house is always in the sun and is the perfect setting for a relaxing, peaceful and active holiday.

A small hamper containing basic food items, should you feel a little hungry after your journey, is provided with our compliments. Complimentary wine is also provided for your enjoyment.
An information pack filled with useful information, places to visit and good restaurants etc. will help with the ideas in planning your holiday here in Tuscany.
Orchard Heights provides comfortable accommodation for 6 people with the added benefit of a settee bed allowing a further 2 guests to stay.

How to find Orchard Heights

Booking notes:

Points to note:
This is a non smoking property.
Some elderly residents do live in the area and Orchard Heights is suitable for elderly guests provided that they are mobile and able to walk with ease. Regrettably, the house is not suitable for wheelchair users or anyone who has difficulty with walking.
It is possible to drive and park outside the property. The house is accessible via a private track and has since been resurfaced with concrete and stones. Whilst most cars are able to use the track, it is not advisable for low slung sports cars.
For drivers who would rather not drive to the house, parking is available at the top of the track and in the village car park. A porter service is provided free of charge to transport you and your cases to the house. We will also take your cases to your car on departure. This can be arranged on or prior to your arrival.

Teresa is next door to Puccini and similarly, is perfectly situated for all amenities in Bagni di Lucca. The tennis courts are a stone’s throw away, the local supermarket is just a few minutes’ walk and the local swimming pool is about 15 minutes away on foot.

A number of restaurants and bars are easily accessible within minutes so the car can remain parked at the house and you can enjoy a gentle walk to and from your chosen venue.

Teresa is arranged on 3 floors with 2 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, living room , kitchen and dining area.

The delightful gardens boarder the river Lima and allows direct access to the river via a small gate at the bottom of the garden.

It is suitable for holidays throughout the year as the house has central heating.

Puccini Sleeps 5

Puccini is next door to Teresa and is perfectly situated for all amenities in Bagni di Lucca. The tennis courts are a stone’s throw away, the local supermarket is just a few minutes’ walk and the local swimming pool is about 15 minutes away on foot.

Puccini is the annexe to the larger section of the building. It is arranged on 2 floors and boasts 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, a large sitting room, kitchen and dining room. The delightful gardens boarder the river Lima and allows direct access to the river via a small gate at the bottom of the garden.

The house has many original features with a beautifully carved wooden mantlepiece in the sitting room.

It is suitable for holidays throughout the year as the house has central heating.

Belvedere Sleeps 4 + 2

Belvedere is the perfect retreat with superb views over the Coreglia Antelminelli hills. Always in the the sun, Belvedere is certainly a sun trap and the idyllic setting when dining outside on the enclosed terrace with stunning views over the Lima valley.

Monti di Villa is 579 m above sea level and consists of the 3 hamlets ; Lugnano, Bugnano and Riolo.

Lugnano, has the bell tower which can be found on the right hand side after leaving Pieve di Monti di Villa. Bugnano has, sadly, been deserted and is in ruins. The infamous scholars; Nicolao Tomeoni (1763 - 1830) and Matteo Trenta (1817 - 1856) were both born in Bugnano. Riolo is a pretty hamlet and the road leading away from the hamlet runs along the banks of the Camaione torrent or Rio. Hence the name Riolo.

The main village of Monti di Villa sits above these hamlets and has beautiful panoramic views over the Lima valley and the area of Coreglia Antelminelli, both within the Serchio Valley.

Belvedere is a pretty house and is arranged on 2 levels. It has a garden, an enclosed terrace with a barbecue and pizza oven. It provides comfortable accommodation for 4 people, however, an additional 2 guests can be catered for in the 2nd bedroom.

Linen, towels, gas, electricity are all provided within the rental costs. A weeks’ supply of pellets is provided, however, should these consumed during your stay additional 15kg bags can be purchased for approximately €4.00 per bag.

Smoking and pets are permitted at this property.
Some elderly residents do live in the area and Belvedere is suitable for elderly guests provided that they are mobile and able to walk with ease as the spiral may be an issue for people with mobility problems.
It is possible to park outside the property, however, the approach road is narrow and unmade in certain areas.

Perfectly situated in the mediaeval village of Riolo, Casa Balera is the ideal holiday home for active families, walkers and anyone who fancies a relaxing break nestled within the heart of the Tuscan hills.

Casa Balera provides comfortable accommodation for 6 people. It is suitable for holidays throughout the year as it has a garden perfect for al fresco dining during the warmer months and central heating, with a lovely open log burning fire, for the colder months.

Riolo is a quaint and quiet mediaeval village with beautiful views overlooking the valley of Bagni di Lucca.

Other villages such as: Granaiola, Lugliano and Colle can be seen in the distance which are lovely additions to the stunning panorama of the mountains blanketed with copious varieties of trees.

It is suitable for families or any anyone who would like an active or tranquil holiday. The narrow streets are an exciting adventure for children to explore and a mule track leading up from the village will take you to Monti di Villa. Numerous walks are accessible around the area - a sheer delight if you are a keen walker.

The main town of Bagni di Lucca is 10 minutes away whilst the beautiful nature reserve of Orrido di Bottri is 20 minutes up the mountain. Abetone, the local ski resort is just an hour away as is the Versillian coastline and the famous leaning tower of Pisa.

Once known as the village dance hall, Casa Balera is a well laid out bungalow with fantastic views over the tree covered mountains, that surround Bagni di Lucca.

Some elderly residents do live in the area and Casa Balera is suitable for elderly guests provided that they are mobile and able to walk with ease. Wheelchair users are able to access the house, however, the garden is inaccessible owing to the steps leading down from the balcony.
It is not possible to park outside the property, however, a car maybe brought within 50 m of the house to unload cases, shopping etc. The car can then be parked in one of the village’s car parks.

Rosalba’s House Sleeps 6

Crasciana is a a pretty mountain hamlet overlooking the Lima valley. It is 799 m above sea level and history states that the prominent Battifolle mountain had a fortress that was used to protect the Republic of Lucca from the Florentine assaults. The views are spectacular with a wonderful backdrop of the Appennine mountains.

A restaurant is in the hamlet and another one can be found on the road down towards Bagni di Lucca on the right hand side.

The main town of Bagni di Lucca is approximately 20 minutes away whilst the beautiful nature reserve of Orrido di Bottri is across the valley.

Rosalba’s House is a beautifully kept house, it can accommodate 6 guests comfortably and has breathtaking views from every window. Just perfect whilst having a relaxing glass of wine and allowing your mind to wander off into dreamland.

Rosalba’s House consists of: three double bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, kitchen, living room and dining room. There is an enclosed terrace and a pretty garden with a barbecue and garden table and chairs.

The house is arranged on 2 levels and is suitable for holidays throughout the year as it offers central heating.

How to find Rosalba’s House

Points to note:
Children are most welcome, however, care must be taken with the little ones as the stairs are made of stone.

Some elderly residents do live in the area and Rosalba’s House is suitable for elderly guests provided that they are mobile and are able to walk with ease, as there is a walk from the car park to the property.

As with most mediaeval mountain villages it is not possible to park directly outside the house, however, providing that your car is the size of a Fiat Panda, then it is possible to park by the house for unloading purposes only. The streets are narrow and are only suitable for confident drivers. There is a free car park which is about 200 m away and down some steps.

Booking notes:
An additional security deposit of £250.00 will be required with your booking and this will be refunded with 10 days of your return home, provided that there are no breakages or damage to the property.

Additional costs
Oil for the central heating is charged at a rate of €1.20 per litre and is deducted from the security deposit.

Fondo Alla Terra Sleeps 4

Granaiola is a mountain village overlooking the spa town of Bagni di Lucca. It is 416 m above sea level and was renowned, in days gone past, for its wheat that was grown locally.

There is a bar/restaurant in the village and the bread man visits daily. The fruit and veg man also pays a visit.

The views over the valley are beautiful and the tops of the Appenine Mountains can be seen, which are a sheer delight especially when they are dusted with a coating of snow.

The main town of Bagni di Lucca is 10 minutes away whilst the beautiful nature reserve of Orrido di Bottri is 20 minutes up the mountain.

Fondo Alla Terra is a wonderful rustic house with many original features and offers comfortable accommodation for 4 people and is suitable for an active or relaxing holiday.
Nestled within Granaiola but at the end of the main street, Fondo Alla Terra has beautiful views over the valley with mountain villages dotted around the neighbouring hills. The perfect vista whilst having a relaxing glass of wine.

Fondo Alla Terra consists of: two double bedrooms, bathroom, kitchen and living room. There is a compact garden with beautiful views over the valley.

Nestled within the village of Villabuona, Casa del Arancio is a 1 bedroomed house set below a large rustic stone house, indicative of the area, and is suitable for families or any anyone who would like an active or tranquil holiday. At the foot of the mountain villages, of Bagni di Lucca, lies Ponte a Serraglio. An interesting village which is divided by the River Lima and is 130 M above sea level. One side of the river has the beautiful Villa Fiori with its large carpark and park area that leads down to the river. Its turrets sit on the banks of the river and invite you to walk across the newly constructed footbridge to the other side of Ponte a Serraglio. There the Casino delle Terme can be found and the Demidoff hospital which is part of the Villagio Globale complex.
Casa del Fiume, a pretty detached stone house, arranged on 2 levels, sits in the hills above Ponte a Serraglio. It has a balcony and an attached garden which produces lovely plums in the summer months which you are free to pick and enjoy. The house is suitable for holidays during the autumnal and winter months, as it has central heating.

The Apartment - Ponte a Serraglio Sleeps 2 + 2

Ponte a Serraglio is a small village situated at the bottom of the Lima valley and at the foot of the hills that incorporate the mountain villages of: Montefegatesi, Granaiola, Monti di Villa and Riolo.

Its name is derived from a very old, enclosed bridge that was used as a form of defence from any would be invaders.

The River Lima separates the village and can be crossed via the newly constructed foot bridge, opposite the Casino, or by the small bridge next to the main piazza in Ponte a Serraglio.

The main town of Bagni di Lucca is 2 minutes away whilst the beautiful nature reserve of Orrido di Bottri is 30 minutes up the mountain.

Situated above the well known bar ʻBar Italiaʼ the apartment offers spacious and comfortable accommodation and is suitable for an active or relaxing holiday.

Although the apartment is above a popular bar, this is in no way detrimental to the experience of watching the world go by, or indeed, having a relaxing and quiet time with a good book and a glass of wine.

Nestled within the village of Benabbio, Casa del Fabbro is a rustic stone house, indicative of the area, and is suitable for families or any anyone who would like an active or tranquil holiday. Numerous walks are accessible around the area- a sheer delight if you are a keen walker.

Casa del Fabbro caters for a maximum of 5 guests and be found within a tiny courtyard, just of off the quite street of Lupo Lupari. The house comprises of: three bedrooms, a bathroom, an open plan kitchen and living room, a balcony and a private terrace. The house is available between the months of April and October.

The house is available for holidays from May to September inclusive.

The house is suitable for holidays in the autumnal and winter months, as it has central heating. Children are most welcome, however, care must be taken with the little ones as there are two flights of stone stairs. A cot, high chair and changing mat can be provided if required.

Some elderly residents do live in the area and Casa Verde is suitable for elderly guests provided that they are mobile, as the property has 2 flights of stairs and there is a steep hill up to the bar. Regrettably, the house is not wheelchair friendly.

Access is very easy with parking directly outside the property. A small bar is 100 metres from the house with an outside seating area and a little shop.
A restaurant is close by in Granaiola and is only 3 minutes away by car or 15 minutes on foot.

Mountain bike treks and walks are literally on the doorstep, so the urge to explore the countryside is never very far away.
Bring your bikes to experience the breathtaking scenery. Alternatively, bikes are provided and you are most welcome to use them should you wish.
